I just bought a house with a grape vine. What do I do with it? Can I trim off the dead shoots?

The vine doesn't look as though it's been taken care of in a long time. Also there was a late frost that caused some damage as well. I know nothing about grape vine so please make it simple. Thanks

As long as the main wood is left intact and the main branches then you can trim back and rip off as much as you like. Then (though I don't know if it's a Table Grape or a Wine Grape or just an old wild grape) you can get some recipes for stuffed grape leaves. Delicious!
Reply:Trim it back to the oldest main branch. You might not get grapes this year, but you have a lot to do the first year in a house anyway!
Reply:trim off the dead roots and prun it back pretty hard.
