While traveling in Guatemala last year, we saw a brilliant violet, purple flowering vine growing in many places. This was in mid-April. We were there to pick up our adopted daugther. Does anyone know the name of any Guatemalan plant that fits this description and if it is sold in the US? Also, a web site that might have info about it would be very helpful. Thanks.
Flowering vine in Guatemala?
Sounds like bougainvillea, and that is the right climate for it. It comes in different colors, incl purple.
For pix, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bougainvill...
Reply:Definetly sounds like bougainvillea, i found a website that sells them but only saw in red, weird, but maybe they sell purple, if not i am not sure where you can get these in the US.
Hope this helps, here is the website.
