Can I use ready made stuffed vine leaves in a tomato cooking sauce?

I went to a party and someone had bought stuffed vine leaves in a tomato sauce. It was so nice I want to try it again but do not know were to start. All I have seen is stuffed vine leaves in a jar. Can I put them in a tomato sauce and heat them up or do I need to do it from scratch? Where would I buy vine leaves from? Are they easy to make?

Yuck. You can buy vine leaves in a jar. Take them out and rinse them in cold water. Cut out the stems. Make a mixture of rice and mince meat, sweated onions and garlic, parsley or coriander, season . Place a small amount of the mixture on the vine leaf, roll up and layer in a large pan. Weight down with a plate. I use cooked rice and cooked mince. These take about 20 minutes to heat through. If you use raw rice and uncooked mince they'll take about 45 minutes. Add some lemon juice to the pan and some water. Let them cool in the pan and then serve them on a large plate, with slices of lemon. This is finger food. Not a tomato in sight.
Reply:If you are asking about Dolamdes, they're a bit tricky at first but get easier. There's a good recipe below, but you're on your own for the sauce; I'd say, buy a sauce you love, like a good vodka sauce, cook them separately and serve them together. :)
Reply:i can make this simple by just placeing your vineleaves in a casserole dish, and poring a nice jar of tomatoe pasta sauce over the top easy peasy uh
Reply:The ones in the jar will be fine ,you can make them from scratch but they will take you hours .x
Reply:The jar ones taste like crap. Make your own. Vine leaves from supermarket and fill with what you want. Rice based usually
